Zaporizhzhia region, Melitopol district, Novobohdanivka territorial community, 0.55 km away from the southwest outskirts of Starobohdanivka village
On March 12, 2022, an occupation administration was set up with its center in the city of Melitopol, which is responsible for the entire territory. The Melitopol occupation administration authorized the construction of defensive structures.
Monument of National Importance
The barrow group Kuliab Mohyla (Kulian Mohyla) (protection No. 080012-N) was first examined by the Zaporizhzhia Archaeological Expedition of the Institute of Archaeology of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR led by V. Otroshchenko in 1987. In 2004, its location was specified by an employee of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Inspection for the Protection of Monuments, V. Filas.
In 1991, the executive committee of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Council of People's Deputies made a decision to include the barrow group No. 1952 in the list of local archaeological monuments and to approve its protection zones. (No. 87 dated April 3, 1991). In 2009, by Resolution No. 928 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated September 3, 2009, the monument was transferred to the state register as a monument of national importance (No. 080012-N).
In 2006, during the inventory of the monuments of Mykhailivka district, archaeologist O. V. Tuboltsev conducted an instrumental survey of the barrows. In that year, new documentation regarding the monument was prepared. According to the updated data, the monument consists of ten barrows. The height of the main barrow No. 1 of the group is 9.45 meters, making it the highest among the barrows on the Molochna River. According to the passport, the total area under the embankments is about 19,146 square meters (1.9 hectares).
According to the chronological map of the war, during the southern offensive, on February 26–27, 2022, Melitopol and Mykhailivka districts were occupied by Akhmat-South units of the National Guard of Russia (Deep State Map). According to the local residents, in the summer of 2022, works on the construction of fortifications on the right bank of the Molochna River were carried out at the archaeological monument of national importance.
